Bill and Moia Lear, the inventors of the Learjet, named their daughter 'Shanda'. If she'd been a boy, he'd have been 'Gondo', apparently.

I've been racking my brains trying to think of a man that Shanda could amusingly have married, but short of finding a Mr Monium (and even that's not really that good), I don't know what the poor girl could do.

It's all rather New Arrivals at the Lightfitter's Ball, though, isn't it?

Disappointingly, there's hardly anything to be done with my surname along those lines. I must remain childless for want of a weak pun, apparently.

Update: I was thinking of adding a poll about the taking of married names by women, but then realised that I've already run such a poll some time ago. That Derrida bloke wasn't all wrong when he said that we're condemned to constant cultural repetition and re-use. I bet something similar had just happened to him when he thought it up, eh?
